MLS® Laser Therapy

Manage Pain. Reduce Inflammation. Speed Recovery.

MLS (Multiwave Locked System) laser is a non-invasive treatment that provides pain relief without the use of drugs or surgery by accelerating the body's natural healing process.

How Does MLS Laser Therapy Work?

MLS Laser Therapy is a non-invasive, safe, and effective treatment modality. It uses two synchronized wavelengths; one for inflammation and the other an analgesic that deeply penetrates tissues and cells without producing heat. Scientific research shows the combined emission stimulates an energy transfer at the cellular level to induce a natural response that jump starts the body's own healing process, boosting cell growth and blood flow to the area. The increase of blood supply removes toxins and enhances cellular nutrition for tissue repair, resulting in the disappearance of symptoms and increasing the speed at which the body heals, along with a significant reduction of swelling. MLS also blocks pain signals to the brain, while releasing endorphins, alleviating acute and chronic pain. It has been FDA cleared since 2009.

8 Benefits of MLS Laser Therapy

Anti-Inflammatory: Causes vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) and activates the lymphatic drainage system, resulting in a reduction of swelling and bruising.

Analgesic: It blocks pain transmission and decreases nerve sensitivity, produces high levels of pain killing chemicals (endorphins), and reduces inflammation resulting in less pain caused by swelling.

Accelerated Tissue Repair and Cell Growth: Laser light increases the energy available to the cell, which allows the cell to acquire nutrients faster and rid the cell of toxins. As a result, damaged cells are repaired faster.

Improved Vascular Activity: Significantly increases the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue, which speeds up the healing process, mending wounds quickly and reducing scar tissue.

Reduced Fibrous Tissue Formation: Reduces the formation of scar tissue following tissue damage from cuts, scratches, burns, or surgery.

Trigger Points and Acupuncture Points: Stimulates muscle trigger points and acupuncture points on a non-invasive basis providing musculoskeletal pain relief.

Improved Nerve Function: Slow recovery of nerve functions in damaged tissue can result in numbness and impaired limbs. Laser light speeds the process of nerve cell reconnection and optimizes muscle healing.

Faster Wound Healing: Stimulates tissue development to injured areas for rapid recovery. As a result, MLS Laser Therapy is effective post surgically and in the treatment of open wounds and burns.

MLS Laser Therapy FAQ's

Does it hurt? What does a treatment feel like?

The laser generates no heat, so there is little or no sensation during a treatment. There is no pain associated during the laser application. Laser therapy is relaxing and some people even fall asleep.

How is a treatment done?

The laser is placed 8 inches above the skin allowing the healing energy to penetrate tissue, where it interacts at a cellular level, resulting in the restoration of normal cell function. This enhances the body's natural healing process.

How long does a session take?

The typical course of treatment is 10 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Treatment plans are determined on an individual basis and are typically received 2 to 3 times a week. Like an antibiotic, each treatment builds off the previous treatments, building effectiveness.

How many treatments does it take?

This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. The typical treatment protocol is between 6 and 12 visits. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing care for pain control.

How long before results are felt?

Most people experience positive results in 1 to 3 treatments with the average course of treatment being 7 to 10 sessions. Acute condition usually subside quickly, while some chronic conditions may take up to 6 visits and can be controlled with regular treatments. The effects are cumulative; therefore, expect to see improvement as you proceed through the treatment plan. It is critical to complete the course of treatments recommended or symptoms are likely to reoccur.

Are the results long lasting?

MLS Laser Therapy does not mask or cover up a condition, addressing the underlying issue, for lasting results.

Can it be used in conjunction with other forms of treatment?

Yes, MLS Laser Therapy is even more effective when combined with other forms of therapy, including physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, soft tissue mobilization, and following surgery.

How do I know if laser therapy is right for me?

Our doctors will evaluate your condition and perform an examination to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.

Can laser therapy be used over medical implants or metal?

Yes, laser therapy is a light treatment. No heating is involved with the surgical or metal implants. It can be used safely without side effects. It is extremely effective for post-operative wound healing. We see many hip and knee replacement patients for care.
